Despite the growth and changes in our business, we have maintained a grasp on our historic roots and the core values that underpin our organisational culture and have led to our success and longevity in the industry.
Sykes & Son Limited recognise that it is the people at the heart of the business who will determine our continued success. This success comes easiest when we have a shared culture, with everyone working together. It is crucial that all of our staff are aligned and pulling in the same direction. As guardians of Sykes, we need to maintain the strength of the company for the next 260 years.
Long-Serving Staff
We pride ourselves on retention of staff – both management and operatives, with a very low staff turnover across the business, giving client’s confidence of both stability and performance. A third of our workforce have over 10 years continued service.
Apprentices, Work Experience and Training
We recognise the importance of increasing skills, employment and opportunities for Londoners, and for many years, Sykes have provided apprenticeships and work placements, to ensure the industry has individuals with the right skills for the future.
Sykes actively encourage a programme of self-improvement and advancement. We pride ourselves on providing opportunities to staff to become “the best that they can be” and we have some enviable success stories.
Sykes House
After over 260 years on Essex Street, in December 2020, we moved to our new Bloomsbury home, Sykes House.
Having long outgrown our Essex Street offices, it was a long process to find the right location to move the business and cement the long-term future of Sykes & Son Limited. Whilst it’s only a mile or so from our historic base, it’s a huge improvement in office space for many future generations of Sykes staff.
Sykes House provides a vastly improved environment to attract and retain high-quality staff, improve collaboration between workstreams, and provide much needed break-out and welfare space.
