Sykes were appointed as Principal Contractor in 2012 to undertake the refurbishment of a two storey flat in Knightsbridge.

Works were largely completed by in-house labour, with specialists utilised for scaffolding, roofing, plastering and glazing.

Internal works included a full strip out, demolition of internal partitions, forming of new openings, removal of wall and floor tiles, removal of existing and replacement of flooring and internal doors, forming a fireplace, new bespoke sliding doors to rear sunroom, new M&E installations, new shower, bathroom, kitchen and a full redecoration throughout.

External works included minor roof repairs, forming a new rooflight, replacement of all windows to front and rear, brickwork and stonework repairs and minor decoration works.

The flat occupies the top two floors of a terraced property in a bus residential street. Residential properties flanked the site on either side, and access could only be gained via scaffolding to the front of the property. A stringent Health and Safety plan was in place throughout works to minimise risks and impacts to other building tenants.
