Sykes were employed to complete the replacement of the existing Keston K170 gas fired boiler within the 4th floor plant room of Wellington Arch.

The existing boiler rated at 50kw was replaced with two smaller boilers, each rated at a duty of 37.5kw, thus providing resilience for the building’s needs.

Sykes were involved at an early stage in the planning of this project so that approvals to our proposals could be granted by English Heritage.

Given the Grade I listed nature of the site, all holes requiring drilling within the fabric had to be marked up on photographs and issued to the client team for their consent.

Hot works were not allowed within the vicinity of the building so all works were carefully planned and any necessary hot works were undertaken off site.

Final connections were carried out using compression fittings as preferred by the client.
