Sykes were appointed as Principal Contractor to provide a dedicated (heat recovery) ventilation system servicing the museums lecture theatre, replacing an old existing ventilation system and providing a controlled environment.

Works were completed to tight programme constraints, within an occupied environment with confined space and challenging access requirements. A stringent H&S plan was in place to prevent risk.

Installation commenced following extensive strip-out works within the old plant room, comprising of the following:-Supply & Extract A.H.U, Dx Cooling unit, HTG pipe work including Valves, Dx Refrigeration Pipe work, supply & extract ductwork; BMS control wiring and valve actuators, mains power wiring and the main plant room roof.

New plant comprised of the following:-Supply Fan (including inverter), Extract fan (including inverter), CHW cooling coil, LTHW heating coil, Thermal wheel and Frost Coil. Four new supply grilles were installed in conjunction with the main A.H.U. located at the front of the auditorium seating area.A new lecture theatre BMS control panel was installed within the main plant room and facilitates the existing Satchwell Sigma control specification.

New CO2 control sensors were fitted to the extract ductwork to enable the plant to operate on an occupancy level demand. Two new local set point/on off adjusters have been installed on both entry points to the main auditorium, boost facility has been provided, to bring on the ventilation system in the event of out of hours operation.
