Sykes managed a Measured Term Contract at the LSE for a period of 12 years. The contract consisted largely of planned maintenance but also reactive, including 24/7 cover from our head office help desk.

Planned maintenance activities in academic year 2009/2010 comprised nearly 1000 items of work to the academic campus. All of the tasks were surveyed and pre-measured by our site based team and budgets prepared and agreed before sign off. The budgets were monitored throughout the year to allow urgent reactive tasks to be added without exceeding LSE overall funding.

Works were costed at schedule rates or at cost plus against approved specialist quotations. Three quotations were obtained for works that exceeded pre-set financial limits.

The works were carefully programmed after considerable consultation with both LSE Estates and end users to minimise disruption to the academic activities.

Works were generally completed by our in-house teams, along with a few specialist sub-contractors on-site team at the LSE campus included a site manager, trade foremen and tradesmen and labour. With our head office based just minutes away; we were always available for a quick response to any urgent remedial or call out work.

Our work at the LSE allows us to demonstrate our ability to work with a demanding client, in complex occupied and operational environments and to extremely tight timescales and budgets.
