Sykes & Son were appointed as Principal Contractor to carry out a £1.8m refurbishment of Wimbledon Magistrates Court.

The building remained fully operational throughout the contract period, requiring careful planning and programming to restrict disruption to the operation of the building.

The project included minor works to Courts 1, 2 & 3 and a full re-fit to Courts 4 & 5 for Crown Court use, conversion of an existing flat to jury retirement rooms, forming 2no interview rooms within the ground floor foyer, creation of an advocates room within the corridor and converting the library into an informal courtroom.

New M&E plant was installed, including the installation of new air conditioning.

External works were completed including new access stairs, replacement of all glazed roofs and installation of roof lights.
