Sykes were appointed on a Design and Build basis to complete the refurbishment of the entrance and reception area of the Office of Fair Trading.

The design, fabrication and installation of a new reception desk represented the key element of work. Sykes design team were issued with an outline proposal and developed the design to meet the ergonomic requirements of the staff and customers and introduce a friendlier customer focused feel to the entrance. The end result was received favourably from both staff and high level management.

Colour schemes, flooring, lighting and replacement wall panelling accentuated the modern, approachable concept. It was also important that the reception was refurbished in a modest and non-ostentatious manner.

Modern, brightly coloured furniture was introduced into the waiting area. A new store room was created adjacent to the ground floor restaurant.

Lastly, a new facility was created by converting some of the waiting area into 2no. meeting rooms. These were formed using full height frameless glass partitioning with privacy manifestation. These are utilised for both formal meetings and informal consultation in keeping with the client’s core business
